b-w-world-peopleThe U.S. Navy will sponsor a two-day conference that will kick off Oct. 12 in Bloomington, Indiana, in an effort to promote technology research collaboration among defense, industry and academic institutions.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, will host the “Innovation Crossover: The Shape of Things to Come” conference and organizers expect the event to form new public-private partnerships that will work to develop technology platforms in the field of defense, cybersecurity, information technology, manufacturing and life sciences, Indiana University said Tuesday.

Panelists include:

  • Brad Wheeler, vice president for IT and chief information officer at Indiana University
  • Chris Fall, assistant director of defense programs at the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy
  • Indiana Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb
  • Walter Jones, executive director of the Office of Naval Research

NSWC Crane has developed the event in partnership with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, Indiana Office of Defense Development, Radius Indiana, Cook Medical, IU, Purdue University and University of Southern Indiana.

NSWC Crane is a naval lab under the Naval Sea Systems Command that employs over 3,100 employees and focuses research efforts on electronic warfare, strategic missions and expeditionary warfare.
