coast-guard-nsc-munroThe sixth Huntington Ingalls Industries-built U.S. Coast Guard national security cutter Munro has completed acceptance trials at the Gulf of Mexico in an effort to validate the performance of the ship’s systems.

Munro accomplished a full-power propulsion run during the two-day trial that tested its propulsion, electrical, damage control, anchor-handling, small boat operations and combat systems, HII said Friday.

The U.S. Navy‘s Board of Inspection and Survey observed the trials onboard the ship as HII’s test and trials team led the assessment.

The company’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division has handed over five NSCs to the Coast Guard with Munro scheduled for delivery at the end of 2016, Kimball in 2018 and Midgett in 2019.

Legend-class NSCs support the Coast Guard’s maritime homeland security, law enforcement and national security operations as the military service’s flagship vessels.
