cybersecurityBAE Systems has expanded its service offering that works to provide real-time threat monitoring and assessment to help businesses identify and mitigate cyber risks.

The company said Monday its updated Managed Security Service builds on BAE’s decade-long experience in providing network protection for corporate and government clients.

“The cyber landscape is constantly evolving and the advanced tools and capabilities previously only available to attackers with enormous resources are now in the hands of common criminal gangs,” said Randy Skipper, president of BAE’s applied intelligence business in the Americas.

Skipper added BAE’s expanded service is designed to address false positives and help organizations thwart sophisticated cyber threats.

A BAE-comissioned survey of 200 information technology professionals at U.S. organizations revealed that 54 percent of respondents assess cyber threats once a week or less.

Twenty percent of organizations evaluate cyber threats every hour, the survey found.

BAE added 97 percent of survey respondents believe business security and defense is a priority for their organizations while 87 percent think their organization’s leaders understand the impact of a cyber attack.

The security of sensitive company financial data and customer information are considered top cyber attack concerns by 63 percent and 58 percent of IT professionals, respectively.

Half of the respondents worry about the hijacking of credentials that could compromise customers or suppliers while 33 percent are concerned that many employees are unaware of cyber risks posed by the use of social media and digital channels.
