F-15 planeBoeing has awarded BAE Systems a multi-year, $140 million contract to develop an electronic warfare system for the U.S. Air Force’s F-15 modernization program.

BAE said Monday it will equip the Boeing-built fighter aircraft with a digital EW system designed to help operators detect and defend against current and emerging threats as part of the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System program.

“Our team responded during the first phase of the program by not only meeting all set program milestones, but in some cases exceeding expectations by several weeks,” said Brian Walters, vice president and general manager of electronic combat solutions at BAE.

The Air Force awarded Boeing a four-year, $478.8 contract in early November for the engineering, manufacturing and development phase of the potential $4 billion EPAWSS initiative.

Boeing tapped BAE last year to refresh the current Tactical Electronic Warfare System on the F-15 fleet.
