Lockheed-Collinear Partnership Aims to Commercialize Wireless Transmission Tech; Rick Ambrose Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin and Collinear Networks have partnered to commercialize a global wireless transmission technology designed for telecommunications network operators.

Lockheed said Thursday its space systems business has worked with Collinear since June 2014 under a licensing and development agreement to market a Lockheed-developed hybrid point-to-point wireless transmission platform.

The agreement gives Collinear exclusive marketing and non-governmental sales rights to the product.

Rick Ambrose, executive vice president at Lockheed’s space systems segment, said the hybrid communications technology combines Lockheed’s skills in radio frequency and optical technologies with Collinear’s networking technology experience.

Collinear expects the platform to supplement or replace existing wireless infrastructure and aid transition to new architectures such as 5G and software-based networks.

Lockheed scientists and engineers at Silicon Valley collaborate with Collinear’s team to complete the product design and the latter company aims to release the technology in the commercial market in 2007.
