A partnership between Raytheon and (ISC)2’s Center for Cyber Safety and Education will offer six new scholarships this year to drive women’s interest in cybersecurity careers.

Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business, wrote in an article published Monday on Fifth Domain that the initiative aims to help address talent shortfall in the cybersecurity field.

“Eliminating the growing deficit in our cyber workforce requires that we all, no matter what industry we’re in, focus on raising cyber awareness among our youngest generations regardless of gender,” said Wajsgras, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017.

He noted the company will pick scholarship recipients among women entering college and mid-career professionals who want to broaden their skills or switch career fields.

Awardees will also receive certification exam vouchers from (ISC)2 as well as fully paid, first-year membership with the information security organization if they pass the exam.
