Cubic's Defense Segment to Modernize Canadian Data Comms Network & Exercise Control Hub - top government contractors - best government contracting eventCubic‘s global defense business has received a potential $4.5 million contract from the government of Canada to update a data communications network and exercise control center for the Canadian defense department.

The company said Thursday it will update and replace current DCN and EXCON hardware and software in support of the Canadian Weapons Effect Simulation system located in Alberta.

Cubic Global Defense will also perform EXCON software upgrades via a platform that was developed as part of the Urban Operations Training System.

Canada’s army uses the CWES system at the Canadian Maneuver Training Center in Wainwright to conduct force-on-force training exercises in an environment that offers realistic simulation on the engagement effects of direct-fire and area WES weapons.

Dave Buss, president of Cubic Global Defense and an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2017, said the company aims to help the Canadian military build a communication architecture that can support current and future simulation training requirements.

Cubic is scheduled to complete upgrade work on DCN/EXCON hardware and software by May 2018 to support the Canadian army’s Exercise Maple Resolve next year.
