Raytheon Subsidiary Completes UK Type 26 Warship Navigation System Integration - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA Raytheon subsidiary has integrated a warship electronic chart display information system with an integrated navigation and bridge system developed for the U.K. navy’s Type 26 Global Combat Ship program.

Raytheon Anschutz also performed a critical design review on the integration of the WECDIS charting software and the Raytheon Synapsis INBS, the company said Wednesday.

Synapis is designed with an open architecture and supports a shared computing environment.

The U.K. government pledged to invest in eight Type 26 GCS units to replace Type 23 Frigates used to provide anti-submarine warfare protection to the country’s Continuous at Sea Deterrent submarines and Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers.

A BAE Systems-led industry team is building the anti-submarine warfare ships for the British navy and the company said the first set is scheduled to enter service by the 2020s.

As of November 2016, BAE has 27 partners that will supply Type 26 GCS components such as electric propulsion motor and drive systems, gas turbines and air weapons handling systems.
