Lockheed Concludes 6th TACMS Missile Flight Test; Scott Greene Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA Lockheed Martin-built missile system has performed a long-range mission during its  sixth consecutive flight test that occurred at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

The company said Monday it tested the Tactical Missile System with the intent to further demonstrate the missile’s functions and address performance requirements under an engineering and manufacturing development program.

TACMS launched from a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System and engaged a target approximately 149 miles away during the test.

Scott Greene, vice president of precision fires and combat maneuver systems at Lockheed’s missiles and fire control unit, said that the test demonstrated the proximity detonation capacity of TACMS and validated performance updates to the rounds.

The company incorporated new guidance electronics into the missile system as part of the U.S. Army‘s TACMS Service Life Extension Program.

Lockheed’s Precision Fires Production Center of Excellence in Arkansas built the missile that the company used in the recent flight test.
