Army Taps Navistar for Iraq Medium Tactical Vehicle FMS Contract - top government contractors - best government contracting eventNavistar‘s defense business has received an $18.8 million contract from the U.S. Army to build medium tactical vehicles for Iraq as part of a foreign military sales deal.

The company said Tuesday it will supply Iraq’s army with 115 7000-MV medium tactical vehicles that are based on International Trucks‘ multipurpose Workstar platform.

Workstar is designed for on-road and off-road operations and is the basis of Navistar’s  MaxxPro mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle offering.

Kevin Thomas, Navistar Defense president, said the company has provided almost 7,000 trucks and buses to Iraq since 2004 through the FMS program.

The company will perform majority of the work at its assembly plant in West Point, Mississippi, and is scheduled to complete deliveries in January 2018.

Hama serves as Navistar Defense’s vehicle parts and service support dealer in Iraq.
