General Dynamics Demos C4 Capacities With Airborne, Underwater Assets - top government contractors - best government contracting eventGeneral Dynamics‘ Electric Boat and mission systems businesses have showcased multiple mission command, control and communication capacities that connected a simulated submarine combat control center with unmanned underwater and aerial vehicles.

General Dynamics said Tuesday it linked Bluefin Robotics-built UUVs and AeroVironment‘s Blackwing UAV to the AN/BYG-1 submarine control facility during the 2017 Advanced Naval Technology Exercise that took place in Newport, Rhode Island.

The demonstrations aimed to exhibit current technology platforms designed to help address communications challenges that occur in contested, undersea environments.

“We look forward to working with our partners and the Navy to make these capabilities mission ready,” said Carlo Zaffanella, vice president and general manager of maritime and strategic systems at General Dynamics Mission Systems.

Kenneth Perry, a vice president at General Dynamics Electric Boat, said the company also demonstrated a Stackable Air-powered Launch System submarine payload launcher using UAV and UUV payloads that have been integrated using an air-land-undersea network.
