Rockwell Collins Gets Follow-On Army Manpack Radio, Equipment Order - top government contractors - best government contracting eventRockwell Collins has received a follow-on order from the U.S. Army‘s Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications-Tactical to deliver 101 manpack radios and ancillaries.

The company said Thursday it is scheduled to begin manufacturing the additional Handheld, Manpack and Small Form Factor radios this month.

The service branch issued the new order after Rockwell Collins produced 50 AN/PRC-162 military radios based on the company’s TruNet networked communications technology for customer testing.

Rockwell Collins, General Dynamics, and Harris compete for task orders to produce manpack radios under a potential 10-year, $12.7 billion contract the Army awarded in February 2016.

The Army plans to down-select two companies that will move forward to full-rate production of HMS radios after the military branch evaluates all three manufacturers’ offerings against threshold requirements and other performance metrics as part of field-based risk reduction tests in 2018.
