Orbital ATK, Air Force Enter Military Aircraft Sustainment Partnership - top government contractors - best government contracting eventOrbital ATK has partnered with the U.S. Air Force Sustainment Center to support the country’s military aircraft through complementary, composite aerostructure design, manufacturing and inspection services.

Both parties aim to address future composite aerostructure requirements on new aircraft types as well as collaborate to maintain, repair and overhaul current platforms as part of the public-private partnership, Orbital ATK said Tuesday.

The team will perform work at the service branch’s three MRO facilities in Oklahoma, Utah and Georgia and at the headquarters of the company’s aerospace structures division.

“This partnership is a great opportunity to combine the complementary capabilities in advanced composite materials fabrication, test and inspection held by the U.S. Air Force Sustainment Center and Orbital ATK,” said Steve Earl, vice president and general manager of Orbital ATK’s aerospace structures division.

The alliance also seeks to facilitate composite structures fabrication, inspection and repair activities that involve MRO strategies on advanced military aircraft.
