Accenture Provides Syracuse University Grant to Offer Employment Support for Military Vets - top government contractors - best government contracting eventAccenture has provided a $2.5 million grant to help Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families expand a program that offers training, certification and transitional employment assistance to transitioning military veterans.

The company said Friday it seeks to help service members and military spouses land sustainable employment opportunities through the Onward to Opportunity-Veteran Career Transition program.

Accenture expects the grant to help IVMF expand the online presence of O2O-VCTP as well as its implementation across eight military installations throughout the next two years.

“Our partnership with IVMF reflects our joint commitment to help veterans and their families thrive in civilian life, and to bridge the gap between military experience and sustainable private sector careers,” said Julie Sweet, CEO of Accenture’s North America business.

“This partnership illustrates the impact we can make when the private and non-profit sectors come together and commit to helping those who have worn this nation’s uniform,” said Mike Haynie, vice chancellor for strategic initiatives and innovation and executive director of the IVMF.

The grant can help the institute offer civilian job training and matching services for approximately 23,000 participants with nearly half of those expected to land secure employment.

IVMF and Accenture will also work together to create a virtual portal for collaboration among program participants, staff members and employer partners.

The company also collaborates with IVMF via the firm’s Skills to Succeed initiative that offers post-service educational and employment training support for veterans.
