General Atomics to Integrate Small Diameter Bomb on Air Force MQ-9 RPA - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA business unit of General Atomics has received a one-year, $17.5 million contract to support the integration of a small diameter bomb technology onto the U.S. Air Force‘s MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. will help the service branch integrate the Guided Bomb Unit-39B/B with a dual carriage system through the use of a universal armament interface, the Defense Department said Monday.

GBU-39B SDB is a 250-pound guided bomb that uses global positioning system that helps aircraft hit fixed and stationary targets.

GA-ASI will perform contract work in Poway, California, and is scheduled to finish work by Nov. 27, 2021.

The Air Force obligated $4.4 million in fiscal 2017 and 2018 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
