Zeriscope to Support Army's Traumatic Brain Injury Research Initiative - top government contractors - best government contracting eventZeriscope has been selected to help the U.S. Army conduct a research project that aims to study the effects of multiple treatment options for people with traumatic brain injury.

The company said Tuesday it will provide a telemedicine platform along with an integrated wearable sensor kit to the one-year TBI research effort as part of the Army Advanced Medical Technology Initiative.

These telemedicine and sensor tools are designed to measure the intervals between a person’s individual heart beats, which clinicians use as a biomarker for the regulation of automatic nervous system, attentiveness and emotional response.

Zeriscope intends for its wearable physiological devices to help medical researchers understand clinical outcomes of treating brain injuries that affect many warfighters who were deployed to conflict zones.

Michael Jenkins-Guarnieri, a TBI researcher at Madigan Army Medical Center, said he believes Zericope’s technology can help facilitate assessments of treatment impact.

He added the technology could be used to evaluate novel treatment modalities.
