Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, will step down from her role as a member of the board of directors at DXC Technology effective immediately.

Whitman became a board member earlier this year of DXC that was formed through the merger between HPE’s enterprise services segment and Computer Sciences Corp., DXC said Thursday.

DXC expects HPE to appoint a new board member early next year in accordance with the terms of the merger agreement.

Mike Lawrie, DXC chairman, president and CEO, said Whitman has been instrumental in the spinoff of HPE’s enterprise services business that led to the creation of DXC as well as in the integration process following the merger.

Whitman’s departure from the board came a month after HPE announced that she will be succeeded by Antonio Neri, HPE president, as CEO of the Palo Alto, California-based technology company in a move that takes effect Feb. 1.

Whitman currently serves as board chairman of HP Inc. and sits on the boards of Procter & Gamble and SurveyMonkey.

She previously held president and CEO roles at Hewlett-Packard and eBay.
