DoD, Dedrone Partner to Experiment With UAS Detection Tech - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Defense Department has partnered with Dedrone to test a company-built technology’s capacity to assess, measure and responding to unmanned aerial systems that may pose threats to base security and flight operations.

DoD and its Defense Innovation Unit Experimental organization intend to experiment with the DroneTracker software designed to help operators collect intelligence from multiple sensors and detect activity of potential drone threats, Dedrone said Tuesday.

DroneTracker is designed to integrate with passive sensors such as the company’s RF-100 and RF-300 radio frequency detectors as well as third-party radars, cameras and microphones.

DoD implemented a policy in August 2017 that permits military services to counter drone threats near bases and the Federal Aviation Administration issued UAS flight restrictions over military operations areas.

A Frost & Sullivan report forecasts that the counter-UAS equipment market will reach up to $1 billion in annual revenue and experience a double-digit growth in the next several years.
