DoD Issues Final Draft Cloud Procurement Solicitation - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Defense Department has issued the second draft solicitation for the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure Cloud procurement program, Nextgov reported Monday.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Monday says the final draft request for proposals covers responses to at least 1,000 industry and government questions submitted in March after DoD released the initial draft solicitation for the single-award contract for commercial enterprise-level cloud services.

Air Force Lt. Col. Kaight Meyers, JEDI Cloud computing program manager, wrote in a Monday letter that the cloud procurement program is designed to be “complementary to other existing cloud initiatives” and “will not preclude the release of future contracting actions.”

Meyers noted that the second draft solicitation contains several changes including revisions to small business goals, price scenarios and to the scope of the Cloud Support Package line items, formerly professional support services in the first draft RFP.

DoD will accept comments and questions on the second draft RFP through April 30 and plans to release the final solicitation in May.

Reuters reported that potential bidders for the contract include Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Oracle and Google.
