Marines Seek Potential Fire Support Tech Sources - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Marine Corps has issued a sources sought notice for potential industry sources of a system that can perform fire support at a range of up to 37 miles.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Monday says the Marine Corps Rapid Capabilities Office seeks ideas to design, build, integrate and demonstrate an Organic Precision Fire platform.

The office looks to develop components and systems designed to increase the range, lethality and precision of its munitions for countering stationary, mobile land or sea targets.

MCRCO is interested in OPF capacities such as one- to two-hour system endurance; mid-flight loiter for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and positive identification of target; lost or recovery capability; active warhead installation; operational and storage functions that comply with to MIL-STD-810 and commercial air transportation capabilities.

The office intends for the man-portable system to launch from a canister or a tube, integrate with command-and-control software in government-owned platforms, use a commercial global positioning system for operations and communicate with a ground control station.

Interested parties can submit input through May 18.
