Report: Lockheed names 3 industry partners for Navy’s MQ-25 tanker drone program - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin has announced three industry partners for its proposed offering for the U.S. Navy’s MQ-25 carrier-based aerial tanker drone program, Defense News reported Monday.

Lockheed officials announced Monday that General Electric and United Technologies Corp. will respectively supply the F404 turbofan engine and the F-35C landing gear, while Triumph Aerostructures will produce the drone’s internal structure.

Lockheed’s Skunk Works business introduced in March its drone concept with the flying wing design three months after Boeing and General Atomics introduced their proposed concepts.

The Navy plans to make a source-selection decision by summer of this year and award a contract to build four aircraft under the engineering and manufacturing development phase with an option to produce three additional test drones, the report added.
