SES subsidiary to provide satellite communications services for AFRICOM; Pete Hoene comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA subsidiary of SES has received a $24.8 million contract from the Defense Department to provide managed satellite communications services for the U.S. Africa Command.

SES Government Solutions will use an entire 432 megahertz fully steerable medium earth orbit beam to deliver the throughput capacity required under the contract, SES said Monday.

Pete Hoene, president and CEO of SES Government Solutions, said the company’s commercial satellite communications product will provide capacities similar to fiber networks.

He added that the contract for a full O3b MEO beam and SES GS’ related managed services is the fourth from a U.S. government client.

The multi-year contract includes low-latency high throughput capacity, gateway services, monitoring and control, satellite terminals, field service support and terrestrial backhaul.

SES GS aims to deliver customized end-to-end products and services to facilitate a dedicated, flexible and secure connection for users.
