NCI to Review Payment Errors Under HHS Contract - top government contractors - best government contracting eventNCI has received a five-year, $44 million prime contract to perform payment error rate measurement review services for the Department of Health and Human Services‘ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The company said it will conduct claims review for national-level improper payment rates concerning Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

NCI will also perform studies on state Medicaid and CHIP policies, gather medical records, process data and medical reviews of related claims and collaborate with state offices to integrate results into the State Medicaid Error Rate Findings system.

Other PERM contractors will work alongside NCI to form a Medicaid and CHIP improper payments national report that is submitted to congress yearly.

On an annual basis, federal government agencies are required to review programs which may be prone to improper payments under the Improper Payments Information Act of 2002.

The Office of Management and Budget determined that Medicaid and CHIP both hold risks of being affected by improper payments, leading CMS to initiate a program aiming to address these vulnerabilities and comply with IPIA.
