Government Seeks Info on Proposed Applied Research Center - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The federal government has asked feedback from industry and academia regarding the proposed development of an applied research center, meant to facilitate the delivery of citizen services through public-private partnerships.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Monday says the government wants to learn about the possible objectives, operational focus, governance structure and funding approaches of the Government Effectiveness Advanced Research Center.

The Executive Office of the President will collect responses until Sept. 14 and use gathered input in efforts to identify the potential of federal data to transform the U.S. economy, as well as determine approaches to boost the skills of federal employees.

The GEAR Center is part of the government’s effort to modernize existing slow and outdated technologies, which lead to operational failures and reduced optimization of resources.

The facility would provide a space for public and private experts in economics, computer science and design thinking, among other fields, to combine ideas for modernizing government operations and services.
