Raytheon to Support Navy Aircraft's FLIR Systems Under $60M Logistics Contract - top government contractors - best government contracting eventRaytheon has secured a potential five-year, $59.7M logistics contract from the U.S. Navy to support forward-looking infrared thermal imaging systems for CH-53 and V-22 aircraft.

The Defense Department said Wednesday that the service branch will issue the first delivery order upon awarding the performance-based contract, which has a base value of $16M.

The Naval Supply Systems Command will obligate the contract’s base amount from the Navy’s working capital funds at the time of award.

Work will primarily take place in McKinney, Texas with the rest to commence in El Segundo, Calif. and Jacksonville, Fla.

FLIR technology detects heat and can be integrated with electronic sensors to help troops administer targeting, reconnaissance and fire support at night in a low-visibility environment.
