National Science Foundation, Boeing Form STEM Training Partnership - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBoeing has partnered with the National Science Foundation to train students and the company’s employees in the science, technology, engineering and math skill areas.

The company said Monday it will invest $10M to help NSF and its learning institution partners develop online training courses about model-based engineering, systems engineering, mechatronics, robotics, data science, sensor analytics, program management and artificial intelligence.

NSF’s education and human resources directorate will award $10M to support STEM workforce development initiatives in the country.

Boeing will also donate $1M to the agency-led INCLUDES program that aims to increase STEM employment opportunities for women and military veterans.

The company expects the partnership’s first project to commence in 2019 and noted the initiative is part of the firm’s $300M investment plan in response to U.S. tax reform.

“These kinds of public-private partnerships can lead to a more technically-proficient workforce with the skills needed to expand our national research and development base,” said France Cordova, director at NSF.
