Air Force Issues Solicitation for Audio-Visual Equipment for Boeing KC-46 Welcoming Event - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Air Force seeks a contractor that can supply audio-visual equipment for a welcoming ceremony for the service’s first Boeing KC-46 air refueling tanker, The Wichita Eagle reported Wednesday.

The service said in its solicitation posted on the FedBizOpps website that the equipment must be delivered to McConnell Air Force Base by Nov. 16, which will possibly be pushed back due to the undetermined delivery date of the aircraft, according to the notice.

“The contract will not be awarded until we have a solid delivery date agreed upon between the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of the Air Force and Boeing,” McConnell AFB said in a statement sent through email.

Charles Ramey, spokesperson for Boeing’s KC-46 program, also explained in an email that the company will still work to deliver the military transport aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Aside from McConnell AFB, the Air Force also plans on sending the first set of KC-46 tankers to Altus AFB in Oklahoma and Pease Air National Guard Base in New Hampshire.

The Boeing aircraft is set to replace the service’s KC-135 plane.
