AWS Highlights Efforts in Law Enforcement, Health, Disaster Response - top government contractors - best government contracting eventAmazon Web Services, which provides various organizations and companies with data management and cloud products and services, has detailed some of its efforts to help modernize law enforcement and disaster response operations.

The company said in a blog entry posted Friday that its Amazon Rekognition application program interface allows nonprofit Thorn and Marinus Analytics to rapidly access and analyze data to track and shut down human and child trafficking operations.

AWS also provided the Lawrence Police Department in Indiana with cloud services for the storage of data collected from a three-camera system used to monitor civilian activities.

In response to the opioid crisis, the cloud computer service provider established the AWS Opioid Crisis Council to initiate discussions with healthcare professionals and provide an open forum for the opioid epidemic and its social consequences.

Lastly, AWS formed the AWS Disaster Response Program to help organizations assess the impact of a disaster and execute recovery operations.
