The company said Tuesday its Insourcing Solutions business is supervising 200 of its staff tasked to support NIAID’s biomedical research operations across various scientific disciplines.

Other services included in Charles River’s contract with the National Institutes of Health center are research model husbandry; data management; routine maintenance; veterinary medical care; and logistics, sanitation, transportation and technical support.

James Foster, chairman, president and CEO of Charles River, said the firm’s offerings for science, research model care and productivity can contribute to helping NIAID save time and effort for its research operations.

The company received the contract on April 20 and started performing tasks under it on Sept. 14.

Charles River forecasts earning around $18M during the project’s initial year of operation.
