FEMA Seeks Identity Verification, Authentication System for Disaster Relief Applications - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Federal Emergency Management Agency has issued a draft solicitation for identity verification and authentication services to attend to disaster survivors in need of government assistance, NextGov reported Wednesday.

FEMA said in a performance work statement that it seeks to incorporate IV&A products and services in the registration process of individuals seeking disaster relief and emergency assistance from the agency.

The support services should include an authentication system for one-time passwords, individual identity, occupancy, ownership, insurance, vehicle and demographic information of disaster victims.

“If the contractor includes new technology, then commercial-off-the-shelf products are preferred over custom development of software,” the PWS noted.

The IV&A platform should also be able to validate the applicant’s name, address, phone and social security numbers, and date of birth, as well as handle up to 750K simultaneous disaster response applications.

Through the effort, FEMA hopes to prevent fraud, waste and abuse within government financial assistance programs.

The agency will possibly release the full solicitation on Nov. 1 and accept responses until Nov. 15.

FEMA plans to award a potential five-year contract to the chosen vendor of the IV&A system.
