Raytheon Marks Surface-to-Surface Missile Development Milestone - top government contractors - best government contracting eventRaytheon has reached a milestone in development of its long-range weapon system  offering for the U.S. Army‘s Precision Strike Missile program.

The company said Tuesday its technicians worked with Army personnel and Marines to install a launch pod container on M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS rocket launchers at Fort Sill in Oklahoma as part of the DeepStrike missile development effort.

Integration work occurred in July of this year.

The “two-in-the-pod” missile is equipped with a guidance technology and designed to counter fixed land targets at a distance of up to 310 miles.

Thomas Bussing, vice president of Raytheon’s advanced missile systems unit, said the company aims to help the service accelerate the PrSM program and deliver a surface-to-surface missile designed to increase firepower.
