AFRL Seeks Info on High Energy Laser for Air Defense Applications - top government contractors - best government contracting eventAn experimentation group within the Air Force Research Laboratory is requesting for industry input on high energy laser and high power microwave technologies.

The AFRL’s Strategic Development Planning and Experimentation Group intends to use these technologies for strike and defense applications against surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles, the U.S. Air Force said Oct. 25 in a FedBizOpps notice.

SDPE seeks to demonstrate the use of these technologies for target detection, acquisition, tracking and identification, as well as lethal engagement, against missiles.

The team will use collected information to identify potential systems for field experiments beginning in fiscal year 2020.

Responses to the information sourcing are due on Nov. 30.
