Navy Awards Lockheed $83M Contract to Build F-35A 'Dual Capable' Tech - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin has received a potential $83.1M contract from Naval Air Systems Command to develop, integrate, certify and test a “dual capable” aircraft system for the U.S. Air Force F-35A jets.

The Air Force will obligate $24.6M in fiscal 2019 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award, the Defense Department said Thursday.

DoD expects Lockheed’s aeronautics business to finish contract services in February 2024.

Work will take place at Fort Worth, Texas, Edwards AF Base in California and St. Charles, Mo.

F-35A is the conventional takeoff-and-landing variant of the fighter aircraft equipped with an internal cannon d is designed to operate from a traditional runway.
