Army to Tap Lockheed for Multiple Launch Rocket System Upgrade Work - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Army is looking to award Lockheed Martin a potential eight-year contract to help the military service update up to 385 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems.

In a FedBizOpps notice posted Wednesday stated the Army wants to extend the operational life of the MLRS Launcher through 2050 and seeks contractor support to update and install launcher loader module.

The proposed contract will have one base year plus seven option years and also cover the installation of updated armored cabs and common fire control systems.

MLRS is designed to fire 12 surface-to-surface rockets in less than one minute or two Army Tactical Missile System missiles, according to Lockheed.
