FCC OKs Google Plan to Use Radar-Based Sensors for Control Applications - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Federal Communications Commission has given Google approval to operate radar-based motion sensors for device control applications, Reuters reported Wednesday.

The sensors, known as Soli, are built with touchless hand gesture technology that allows users with speech or mobility disabilities to remotely control devices, the report noted.

Soli uses a radar beam to sense three-dimensional motion, allowing users to execute device functions via touchless finger movements.

The FCC intends to allow Google to deploy these sensors with power levels higher than the current standard.

The commission said that the approval provides for innovative features that support public interest.
