New DOE Challenge Seeks Tech Ideas to Advance Bulk Power System Resilience - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Department of Energy plans to introduce a challenge for commercial and academic institutions to explore systems and approaches to increase the resiliency of the U.S. bulk power system.

DOE said Thursday it will collect ideas from organizations or innovators on how to address vulnerabilities, mitigate threats and avoid interdependencies within the energy sector through the Electricity Industry Technology and Practices Innovation Challenge.

The department noted that it will consider the use of fuel delivery infrastructure for generating energy such as hydropower if it does not directly impact BPS functions.

“I am pleased to challenge the nation’s best and brightest to offer new ideas that will help the electricity sector continue to harness innovation for a more reliable and resilient electric grid,” said DOE Assistant Secretary Bruce Walker.

The upcoming challenge will build on DOE's efforts to collaborate with industry and academia to secure the country's energy infrastructure.
