Mitre Unveils ATT&CK Tool Containing Crowdsourced Info on Cyber Threats - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Mitre has developed a new tool that collates public information on cyber threats in an effort to help organizations identify digital infrastructure to be prioritized for security, Federal News Network reported Tuesday.

The ATT&CK platform is designed as a matrix that crowdsources data on cyber adversaries and their methods of infiltrating digital systems.

Mitre curates information from the public and includes source material for each entry in the matrix for proper attribution.

“Whereas other organizations, and certainly the government talk in terms of attribution and the sort of strategic goals of an adversary group, ATT&CK is really focused on the kinds of things that network defenders can use, understanding adversaries’ technical objectives and the ways that specific adversary groups have been attributed to specific behavior,” said Richard Struse, chief strategist of Mitre’s cyber threat intelligence division.

He added that the ATT&CK database is an “encyclopedia of information” that can be useful for chief information officers and other experts responsible for developing cyber defenses for digital networks.
