The Department of Homeland Security has recognized AeroDefense’s drone detection platform for compliance with a law concerning anti-terrorism technologies.

AeroDefense received DHS’ Developmental Testing and Evaluation Designation for the AirWarden platform’s adherance to the Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies, or SAFETY, Act, the company said Tuesday.

The legislation aims to protect vendors from claims and liability threats that their technologies caused damage during terrorist attacks. Lawmakers formed the SAFETY Act as part of 2002’s Homeland Security Act in response to the 9/11 attacks.

DHS awards DT&E Designations to potential qualified anti-terrorism technologies under evaluation.

“We are thrilled that DHS has placed their confidence in our emerging technology,” said Linda Ziemba, CEO at AeroDefense.
