Teresa Shea, vice president of cyber offensive and defensive experts at Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business, told CyberScoop in an interview posted Monday that a zero-trust model should be extended to the cloud environment amid data growth and increasing adoption of internet of things.

Shea noted that supply chain risks continue to be an issue and with that, organizations should implement a zero-trust model and have an incident reaction plan in place to prepare for cyber threats.

When asked about the challenge posed by the shortage in skilled cyber talent, Shea said organizations should face the reality of not having enough cyber analysts with the growth of data being generated and “in parallel, bring technology into the analyst space early and often.”

She also called on organizations to continue to push cybersecurity as an exciting and interesting field for young individuals.
