Boeing to Restart Military Aircraft Production at Philadelphia Facility - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Boeing is reopening an aircraft manufacturing hub in Ridley Park, Pa., this week and implementing additional health precautions for its employees amid concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, Defense News reported Saturday.

The planemaker halted operations at its Philadelphia complex April 3 and launched cleanup efforts at the site throughout a two-week period, the report noted.

The facility houses production lines for the MH-138 Grey Wolf twin-engine and the H-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopter as well as the V-2 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft Boeing developed with Textron’s Bell subsidiary.

According to Boeing, it updated its health restrictions to include additional steps such as temperature screening, physical distancing and mask use.

The company reopened other aircraft production facilities in the Washington state’s Puget Sound area last week.
