HawkEye 360 has appointed Kari Bingen, former deputy under secretary for intelligence and security at the Department of Defense, as chief strategy officer to provide guidance as the company navigates an evolving space policy landscape and a growing radio frequency (RF) data and analytics market, HawkEye 360 reported on Tuesday.

"Few people have the same depth of knowledge about space and intelligence policy as Kari Bingen," said HawkEye 360 CEO John Serafini. "Both her technical expertise and prior service in the highest levels of the U.S. Government makes her a superb fit to guide our strategy.”

As chief strategy officer, Bingen will further develop Hawkeye 360’s government and commercial relationships to share emerging technology and intelligence solutions with users, spanning a variety of industries.

Prior to joining HawkEye 360, Bingen helped the secretary of defense direct and set priorities for the intelligence agencies under the DOD, such as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

She also has experience in working at the House Armed Services Committee as policy director, responsible for advising Congress members on defense policy, program and budget matters.

Her career in the private sector includes time serving at SRA International and The Aerospace Corporation.

"I am extremely excited to join the HawkEye 360 team as the company continues to grow and push the leading edge of commercial space technology," said Bingen. "HawkEye 360 is creating new possibilities with commercial RF capabilities and shaking up traditional business models for the better. Our national security will benefit from such commercial innovation."
