Executive Mosaic is honored to present Teresa Weipert, general manager of Maximus’ federal services segment, as an inductee into the 2022 Wash100 for her leadership and vision for the growth of Maximus in the federal sector and her drive for innovation in digital transformation for federal agencies. This recognition marks the first Wash100 Award for Weipert.

In April 2021, Weipert assumed leadership of Maximus Federal, succeeding the retiring Tom Romeo, a three-time Wash100 Award winner, and bringing over three decades of GovCon experience to the role.

“[Romeo’s] successor, Terry, is poised to further this growth based upon her years of experience in the federal and public sector markets and broad skills in technology and business process management,” said Bruce Caswell, president and CEO of Maximus and a fellow 2022 Wash100 winner.

The leadership transition aligns with Caswell’s long-term strategic goals for the company to continue technology capability development and market expansion efforts.

As head of Maximus Federal, Weipert will oversee operations, business development and financial activities with a focus on transforming the company’s digital, business process outsourcing and enterprise information technology portfolios.

“I am honored and excited to join Maximus, as the company continues to differentiate itself from competitors through its technology and approach to citizen services. I am looking forward to building upon the foundation laid by Tom and the Maximus team over the past ten years and taking it to new heights,” she said.

In an Executive Spotlight interview with ExecutiveBiz, Weipert talked about her vision for the future of Maximus Federal, the company’s $1.4 billion acquisition of Veterans Evaluation Services and recent contract awards.

She said VES was one of the two big acquisitions in 2021 “that expanded the company’s portfolio and laid the groundwork for even more growth.” Maximus acquired the federal division of Attain for $430 million in March 2021.

She noted that Maximus Federal’s goal is to help the government facilitate the delivery of services to citizens and that she believes in the company’s potential to do even more.

“Ultimately, the growth is fueled by our people, our processes, and our technologies. My job is to make sure we’re focused every day on best utilizing those to improve our business and deliver even better results for agencies,” Weipert added.

In October 2021, Maximus received a potential 10-year, $323 million contract to provide additional enterprise support services for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis and Retrieval system or EDGAR.

The SEC contract expands the company’s scope of work to include enterprise IT infrastructure, agile software development, digital transformation, modernization and cybersecurity services for EDGAR.

“At Maximus, our focus is aimed at helping agencies achieve their IT modernization and digital transformation goals. We look forward to working alongside the SEC to conceptualize the future state of EDGAR,” Weipert said.

In July 2021, Maximus secured $151 million in task orders to help the Internal Revenue Service migrate workloads to the cloud and train IRS employees on new systems and technologies.

“The IRS task order is an example of a trend I believe we’ll see in the federal technology space, as agencies rise to meet their IT modernizations challenges,” Weipert told ExecutiveBiz.

“By now, we are all aware of the importance that IT modernization and digital infrastructure have within agencies. Now, the focus is on how you quickly and dynamically achieve your modernization goals while improving the citizen experience without impacting the mission,” she added.

Weipert discussed the concept of continuous modernization and how it will drive growth in the years to come.

“The days of a start and endpoint for a modernization project are gone. Rapid changes in technology require an ability to respond to evolving requirements quickly. We are helping agencies develop IT infrastructure so they can take advantage of new technologies and requirements when they emerge and anticipate future changes,” Weipert noted.

She also discussed the company’s adoption of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotic process automation and other emerging technologies.

“We’re in the process of utilizing all this technology to free up our federal workforce and key players to focus on the bigger picture and develop more strategic viewpoints on how to effectively and successfully modernize,” said Weipert.

Weipert came to Maximus Federal from IBM, where she served as vice president of life sciences, health care and state, local and education public markets. Prior to IBM, she held leadership roles at Sutherland Global Services, Accenture and Unisys.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Teresa Weipert and Maximus Federal on her Wash100 Award selection.
