Carahsoft Technology has entered an agreement to distribute a SecurityScorecard-developed platform to U.S. government clients via reseller partners and several contracts.

The Reston, Virginia-based information technology company said Monday it will be the first public sector vendor for SecurityScorecard, a cybersecurity rating provider.

Rich Maigue, the sales director at Carahsoft leading the SecurityScorecard effort, cited the government’s growing need for data protection structures as the motivation for the deal.

“Partnering with SecurityScorecard provides our resellers and their customers with the visibility and intelligence needed to fortify security measures and reduce cyber risks,” said Maigue.

SecurityScorecard functions by visualizing a user’s potential cyber threats in real time, incorporating an awareness of threats to its supply chain and the organization itself. It then tabulates a security rating that it issues in order to notify government agencies of the amount and intensity of protective policies needed for the companies and industries with whom they interact.

This aims to empower agencies to properly prioritize cybersecurity and vendor decisions.

Insight into how to best safeguard supply chains is the central utility SecurityScorecard provides. With Carahsoft’s help, the service will also enable users to “monitor third parties’ cybersecurity postures” and ultimately “reduce the threat of attacks,” according to Aleksandr Yampolskiy, CEO and co-founder of SecurityScorecard.

Carahsoft will offer SecurityScorecard’s programs through various contracts, such as NASA Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement V, Information Technology Enterprise Solutions – Software 2 and OMNIA Partners. It will also market the company’s products through its resellers.

The announcement follows Carahsoft’s deals with artificial intelligence/machine learning test and evaluation enterprise CalypsoAI and IT software company Telos earlier this month. Carahsoft will distribute CalypsoAI’s various products and Telos’ cybersecurity platforms to public sector customers.
