Axim Geospatial, formerly named Continental Mapping Consultants, will utilize synthetic aperture radar data to identify and assess change detection of transportation assets and equipment in support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s Economic Indicator Monitoring initiative.

Sun Prairie, Wisconsin-headquartered Axim said the delivery order awarded under NGA’s EIM contract vehicle requires the company to provide commercial SAR and object detection, with help from its partners ICEYE, biotechnology research firm US INC, and Spaceknow.

The technology will assist the geospatial intelligence community in monitoring locations regardless of local illumination and weather.

Axim was among the five contractors NGA has tapped to leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning and non-traditional sources to address economic GEOINT challenges. The five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a value of up to $30 million.

“Processing of satellite SAR data using AI/ML analytic techniques provides our customer timely insights into economic activities at locations across the globe,” said Jeremiah Johnson, vice president at Axim.
