NATO Issues RFP for 1st Concept Study Under Next-Gen Rotorcraft Capability Program - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The NATO Support and Procurement Agency has released a request for proposals for the first of five concept studies meant to inform the design of the next-generation medium- or heavy-class military helicopter, FlightGlobal reported Wednesday.

The tender is seeking a company that could perform research into a “novel powerplant” for the Next-Generation Rotorcraft Capability program and will run through Sept. 1.

According to the RFP, a novel powerplant platform includes the propulsion, transmission, flight control systems and technologies that could provide power for accessories and onboard systems.

NSPA intends to award a contract for the first concept study in late 2023 and issue another RFP for the next study on open-system architecture by August with plans to make the contract award before the end of the year.

France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Italy and the U.K. are the six NATO member countries involved in the NGRC program. Canada is expected to join the project by October.
