Raytheon Receives $325M Ceiling Increase to Air Force Contract for StormBreaker Increment II Production - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The U.S. Air Force has awarded RTX company Raytheon a modification to a previous contract for the production of StormBreaker Increment II small diameter bombs, also known as GBU-53/B SDB II.

The modification raises the original contract’s ceiling value $275 million to $600 million, an increase of $325 million, the Department of Defense said Friday.

Work on the contract is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2026.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity.

The Naval Air Systems Command describes GBU-53/B SDB II as “an air-launched, precision-strike standoff weapon” that uses two-way datalink communications, like Link-16, to receive target coordinate updates, making the weapon usable against stationary and moving targets.

The weapon can be launched from multiple platforms, including the F-15E, F/A-18 E and F, and F-35 B and C fighter aircraft.
