software engineeringA consortium led by Hewlett-Packard and Fujitsu have been awarded contracts worth up to $2.3 billion combined for information technology and communications services to the U.K.’s defense ministry.

HP will collaborate with Airbus, Fujitsu and CGI under the Atlas Consortium to provide IT systems, software platforms and cloud services for U.K. defense offices and military bases under the $1.5 billion New Style of IT contract, the ministry said Monday.

The consortium will carry out work under the NSoIT contract through September 2016.

Fujitsu was also awarded a separate potential five-year, $859 million contract to provide video, voice and other communications services for the country’s civilian and service personnel under the Global Connectivity program.

The defense ministry created the program to continue communication services after the Defense Fixed Telecommunications Service contract expires in July 2016.
