An IBM subsidiary has been awarded a five-year contract from the U.S. Peace Corps to provide a cloud-based technology for the agency to recruit and engage volunteers.
Kenexa will help the Peace Corps implement IBM’s recruitment and talent management platform that is designed to run on a SoftLayer cloud infrastructure designed for government organizations, IBM said Thursday.
“Federal agencies are viewing cloud much more strategically than infrastructure alone,” said Anne Altman, general manager of IBM’s U.S. federal business.
“For the Peace Corps, it’s about engaging an audience that wants to actively participate in the volunteer application process and is accustomed to using new tools for such interactions,” Altman added.
The Peace Corps chose the company’s technology to also help potential volunteers connect with each other and agency personnel before they perform missions abroad, IBM noted.
Kenexa has helped update the agency’s Volunteer Delivery System under a contract awarded in 2010.
FCW reported the agency saw the number of service applications increase by 32 percent to almost 23,000 applications during fiscal 2015.
