Navy radarThe U.S. Navy has asked industry to provide information on X-band radar systems and active antenna platforms designed for tracking and surface surveillance operations.

The Naval Sea Systems Command said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Oct. 21 that it also wants information on scalable X-band exciters, receivers and frequency synthesizer tools that can be integrated with disparate platforms.

NAVSEA said it will also consider ground- and aerial-based radar systems that can be modified for marine use.

System requirements for active antenna systems include missile communications and illumination capabilities, firm track range against anti-ship cruise missiles and periscope detection functions.

The Navy will require phase noise, tunable frequency coverage, waveform capability, fault tolerance, control interface and frequency switching speed capabilities for X-band frequency synthesizer, receiver and exciter subsystems.

Industry inputs will be used to develop acquisition approaches for the X-band RF Radar program and responses to the sources sought notice are due Friday, the Navy said.
