CobhamLogo1 - ExecutiveMosaicCobham has received a three-year, $4.17 million contract to produce landmine detection systems for the U.S. Army.

The company will develop a demonstrator handheld technology that will work to identify explosive devices buried in the ground, Cobham said Tuesday.

“As a result of this program Cobham will deliver enhanced handheld counter-explosive hazard detection systems for evaluation,” said Tom Garvey, vice president and general manager of antenna systems at Cobham.

“The continued need for protection of U.S. forces against buried threats is a key priority and this contract will allow Cobham to build on the considerable capability offered by the current Minehound family of detectors, as it develops next generation systems,” he added.

Cobham will produce the system at the company’s facilities in Marlow and Leatherhead, England.
